Rich May’s Eric Krathwohl a Founding Member of the Pacesetting IGNITE Clean Energy Business Plan Competition
Rich May attorney Eric Krathwohl, a long time energy attorney currently
involved with several renewable energy projects and technology
companies, assisted the recently completed IGNITE Clean Energy Business
Plan Competition. Rich May congratulates the winner FloDeign Wind
Turbine Corp and runners up Ethanol Boosting Systems (Professional),
Husk Power System (Student), Sequesco (Professional) and Pyrolitix
Biofuels (Student).
The IGNITE Clean Energy Business Plan Competition (“ICE”) was born
out of the efforts of half a dozen members of the MIT Clean Energy
“Special Interest Group” to establish a clean energy cluster in the
Greater Boston and New England area. In its four years of existence,
ICE has grown from 41 to 70 competitors, $135,000 to $390,000 in terms
of prize value, 3 to 8 in terms of educational and team support events,
12 to 78 in terms of team mentors, 25 to 114 in terms of judges, and 15
to 230 in terms of supporting volunteers. Several other clean energy
business plan competitions have sprouted up in ICE’s footsteps. Several
of past ICE competitors have used their ICE experience and exposure to
build successful businesses and have received venture capital funding.
Mr. Krathwohl has 29 years of experience representing energy
companies, addressing energy regulation and handling energy
transactions. Over the past several years he has had experience with
wind, solar, biomass and energy efficiency projects. He has also
represented emerging clean tech companies and counseled them as they
develop and finance their ideas.
