Stephen M. Kane, a Managing Director and Chair of the Business, Corporate and Securities Practice Group of Rich May, P.C., was honored by Columbia University at its 2017 Alumni Leaders Gala on October 7, 2017, for his recently awarded University Alumni Medal.

The Alumni Medal, first awarded in 1933, is the highest honor bestowed by the Columbia Alumni Association (CAA) for distinguished service to the University—including all its schools, alumni associations, regional Columbia Clubs, and University-wide initiatives. Past recipients of the Columbia Alumni Medal include William “Bill” Campbell (former Chair of Columbia Board of Trustees, former Director of Apple, Inc. and former Chairman of Intuit); John Kluge (founder of Metromedia and philanthropist); and The Honorable Jack B. Weinstein (Senior Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York).

Steve started doing alumni interviews for Columbia College applicants in 1984. He has been annually elected to the Board of Directors of Columbia Alumni Association of Boston since 2004, and served as President of CAA of Boston from 2008 to 2016, during which time the Boston Club won the CAA Club Award of Excellence in 2014. Steve also was a member of the University-wide CAA Board from 2011 – 2017.
