Biography

Mary E. Landergan, of counsel to Rich May, concentrates on corporate, trademark and entertainment matters. Mary brings over 25 years of diverse experience to Rich May, having practiced in international law, general commercial litigation, bankruptcy, constitutional law, civil rights and entertainment law. She has worked in the legal departments at CBS and ABC, and at an international New York-based law firm. She has provided legal and strategic consulting services for various clients in the entertainment and new media industry in the areas of intellectual property, new media law, publishing, sports production, e-books, internet law, contract negotiation and drafting, employment law, first amendment and pre-broadcast libel review. Additionally, she has conducted seminars on sexual harassment. Ms. Landergan has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Suffolk University School of Law. She is currently on the adjunct faculty at Northeastern University School of Law where she has taught Entertainment Law, Trademark Law and First Amendment.

Representative Matters

Served as in-house counsel at major television and radio networks including work on employment agreements, advertising, FTC and FCC matters, licensing agreements, copyright and trademark matters, and pre-publication review.

Worked with coalition of companies on statewide marketing campaign including protection of brand, development of branding guidelines, and resolution of a dispute involving the unauthorized use of the trademark as a keyword.

Representing e-book publishing client in agreements and other legal issues

Representing company in development and launch of interactive website

Worked closely with public broadcasting entity’s business affairs staff and legal staff on development, production, licensing and distribution activities.

Representation of producers and production companies in various matters on production agreements, content distribution agreements and pre-broadcast libel review.

Counsels clients on domestic and international trademark and copyright protection
