Biography

Atakelti “A.T.” Desta is a 2016 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Mr. Desta previously interned at Rich May in the summers of 2014 and 2015, gaining meaningful experience in a variety of practices, including business, corporate, litigation, real estate, trademark, and energy law. Among other projects, Mr. Desta assisted in the merger and acquisition of a major client and in a successful litigation before the Supreme Judicial Court.

As a law student, Mr. Desta was heavily involved in extra-curricular activities at Case Western. He was a Legal Writing Tutor for first-year and international students, and also served as an Executive Notes Editor for Health Matrix, the law school’s premier journal for Law and Medicine. He was also the Spring 2015 recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Transactional Writing and Skills. This award is given to the highest scoring student in each class at member law schools. In the fall semester of his third year, Mr. Desta studied International Business Law at Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid, Spain, as one of two students nominated from his Case Western class.

Outside of the law, Mr. Desta is passionate about social justice, education, and community service. Before attending law school, Mr. Desta received a Masters in Education, cum laude, in 2011 from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, and taught Secondary History in the Newton and Needham public school systems. Additionally, Mr. Desta is a member of the Belmont Hill School’s Corporation and serves as a Co-Director of the school’s Multicultural Alumni Partnership (MAP). He is also a Public Relations officer for the Kilte-Awlaelo Schools Development Association (KASDA), a group dedicated to the advancement of schools and infrastructure in a rural region of Ethiopia. Mr. Desta is a native of the South End neighborhood of Boston, where he remains active in the community. He graduated from Belmont Hill School in 2005 and from Boston College in 2009.
