Rich May’s Gerald V. May, Jr. Appears as Guest Speaker at the Board of Directors Meeting of The Federation of State Physician Health Programs, Inc.

On Friday April 21, 2006, Rich May attorney, Gerald V. May, Jr. was a guest speaker at the Board of Directors meeting of The Federation of State Physician Health Programs, Inc. (FSPHP), a not-for-profit corporation, as a part of the 2006 FSPHP Annual Meeting held at the Hilton Boston Back Bay, Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. May was recommended to the FSPHP Board as a speaker by in-house counsel to Physician Health Services, Inc., a non-profit corporation (PHS). PHS is a member of FSPHP and is a supporting organization to the Massachusetts Medical Society, a client of Rich May.

FSPHP had requested an attorney with expertise in non-profit issues, specifically issues surrounding with Section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, to speak to the Board about the tax implications of some of its practices and matters of corporate governance. FSPHP evolved from initiatives taken by the American Medical Association and individual state physician health programs, focusing upon rehabilitation and monitoring of physicians with psychoactive substance use disorders as well as mental and physical illness.
