Rich May Client, Copeland Toyota, Expands Dealership
Rich May client, Copeland Toyota Scion, recently expanded its dealership more than five times its original size, making it New England’s largest Toyota Scion facility. Copeland Toyota transformed a new Brockton MA location from a 16,000 sq. ft. cinderblock warehouse to an 86,000 sq. ft. palace. Copeland Toyota has been an important business in Brockton, MA for 35 years and according to Brockton’s Mayor John T. Yunis Jr. the relocation of the new car part of the dealership “filled a void in an area targeted for economic development” and Mayor Yunis hopes other companies will follow their lead (Toyota Today – May/June 2005). Since the opening of the new dealership location, Copeland Toyota has attracted a variety of new customers, “and they’re helping a tired manufacturing area evolve into a vibrant retail corridor” (Toyota Today – May/June 2005 issue). Not only is this expansion an important development for the future of Copeland Toyota as a business, it has also fundamental for the future economic revitalization of the city of Brockton, MA. “The tax base is going up, and we’re adding jobs to the community,” says Dealer Principal Todd Copeland. . “We’re at the forefront of the revitalization of this area.” Its other Brockton location on Main Street offers pre-owned vehicles. “We’re so proud of the way it turned out,” says dealership co-owner and General Manager Jim Egan. “The final product is quite dramatic. As people walk in, they’re just blown away.”
Their original location at 1554 Main Street Brockton, MA remains in service as the Copeland Pre-Owned Auto Discount Center offering all makes and models. Toyota Motor Corporation has honored Copeland Toyota with its “President’s Award” for excellence.
