RICH MAY Client, Netspoke Inc., Featured in Boston Business Journal. Rich May’s Emmett Lyne Quoted in Article
An article in the February 18 -24, 2005 issue of the Boston Business Journal focused on the success of Netspoke’s alternate funding sources. Instead of opting for the traditional Venture Capital route of investment, Netspoke founders Scott D’Entremont and Eric Murray borrowed against a construction crane in order to afford the necessary hardware and software used in conferencing. In addition, by turning to a network of real estate developer friends for funding, Netspoke was able to bypass venture capitalists at a time when they were slowing investments. According to Rich May’s Emmett Lyne, “There’s a risk to that strategy; there’s a personal relationship risk. Looking back on Netspoke, Eric and the circle of friends he brought in are going to be very glad they made those early investments.” The profitability of these investments can be seen in the growing revenue of the company which reported earnings of $11 million last year.
