RICH MAY Client Netspoke Acquires e-StudioLive’s Streaming Video Webcasting Technology

WOBURN, Ma.—Rich May Client Netspoke today acquired the streaming video software assets of e-StudioLive, a Massachusetts-based company known for its TV production studio-like webcasting technology and high-quality Internet video capabilities. With this acquisition, Netspoke now offers customers the ability to create, archive and present professional-looking streaming video events, whenever they want, as often as they like, without relying on expensive and time-consuming outside services.

The acquisition of e-StudioLive’s award-winning product gives Netspoke a competitive advantage over other web conferencing services because it offers a higher level of rich media technology never before integrated into a conferencing solution. It will enable customers to easily create compelling webcasts with extremely high-quality video, audio, graphics, presentations, guided web tours, text and applications, delivered over the web in an on-demand fashion.

The acquisition comes at a time when industry experts say the industry is shifting away from bare-bones, single conferencing events to more rich media-intensive, collaborative environments. According to a recent Frost & Sullivan report on Converged Conferencing and Collaboration, “While the converged collaboration approach was barely perceptible as a core strategy in the past, it is now the fundamental strategic requirement for any enterprise communications vendor seeking to advance their business,” said David Alexander, a Frost & Sullivan analyst. “Meetings today are shifting from use of a single conference technology to rich media conferences including some combination of audio, web and video conferencing.”

The new Netspoke service will target business, government and educational organizations that need to train people or sell products more effectively to generate revenue and outpace their competitors. In the past, creating a streaming media webcast was an expensive and complex process. Netspoke’s e-StudioLive technology will simplify the process enabling virtually anyone to deliver their message using the richness of a professional-looking webcast. Users simply need to attach a camera, import a PowerPoint presentation and other event elements, and then produce their on-demand event.

“This acquisition is the right step to help lead the market in delivering all the tools and services our customers need to progress beyond simple meetings to television-quality broadcast online events,” said Scott D’Entremont, Netspoke CEO. “It will help our customers improve their image with professional-looking streaming video events on par with TV broadcast capabilities.”

Among the advanced features in the e-StudioLive technology are: a software-based audio mixer that allows the use and mixing of multiple audio sources such as live microphones, MPEG video clips, or MP3 audio files; enhanced support for Flash movies during a webcast production; the ability to deliver an audio-only webcast for low bandwidth environments; and much more.

The new Netspoke streaming media webcast service will be available in early 2005.
