Rich May Client, Sushil Bhatia, Named Massachusetts Minority Small Business Person of the year 2003 by SBA
Sushil Bhatia, President of JMD Manufacturing Inc., Framingham, MA and client of Rich May, a Professional Corporation, has been named the Massachusetts Minority Small Business Person of the year 2003 by U.S. Small Business Administration. The purpose of this award is to recognize a minority owned small business that best exemplifies entrepreneurial success and leadership in the community.
Sushil Bhatia is an entrepreneur /innovator inventor who has several patents, publications and new products in his name. He has developed/co-developed products which are used in our daily lives. His products are used at home, in the offices, in factories, at conferences and seminars and touch every walk of life. In fact, you cannot go through a regular day in life without looking at a product in which Sushil did not have a contribution of development. Here are some of the products that he has innovated and developed – Glue Stic, Convention/ seminar name badges, mailing labels, laser/copier labels, decorative labels for shampoo/ cosmetic/ food containers, inks for use on milk cartons, food containers like bottles, boxes, plastic bags and paper pouches. He also co-developed rub transfers for children and commercial applications, has invented a decopying process and introduced multi-color printing in a single pass. He has won innovation awards for several of his products. One of his products was chosen as a new disruptive technology in a U.S. nationwide competition by Discover magazine and was a finalist out of 4400 companies who participated in this selection. He has founded several companies and is currently the President and CEO of JMD Manufacturing Inc. in Framingham (www.jmdmfg.com) which he founded in 1993. He is also founder charter member of TiE-Atlantic, a group which promotes entrepreneurship.
