Rich May’s Howard L. Levin Acts as Lead Mentor for Vehicle Design Summit
Rich May attorney Howard L. Levin, a mentor in MIT’s Venture Mentoring Service (VMS), is currently acting as the Lead Mentor for Vehicle Design Summit (VDS).
According to VDS, “The mission of the Vehicle Design Summit is to catalyze an Energy Space Race: to identify the key characteristics of events like the race to the moon and then transpose this energy, passion, focus and urgency to the multitude of global challenges (and opportunities) facing humanity and the planet in this day and age.” Specifically, VDS is in the midst of its second phase, having organized a global consortium of students and professional to “design, build and bring to market the VDS Vision 200, a hyper-efficient 4-6 passenger vehicle earmarked for India that will demonstrate a 95% reduction in embodied energy, materials and toxicity from cradle-to-cradle-to-grave.” VDS teams from all over the world plan to have limited production and field tests by August 2008 with a goal to market the vehicle in India by the end of 2009.
VDS is currently organized around two “products”: the Vision 200 hyper-efficient vehicle, and a new, “open source” style process for combining the talent and energy of innovators from many different continents to create environmentally responsible products for world markets.
